Ground Control to Captain Tom.

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Ground Control to Captain Tom.

Post by lenb »

He likes high energy output weapons, violent maneuvering, Trojan brand AEGIS shielding, long boring interludes between moments of pants wetting fear, and really good Federation Coffee.

Image

He's in a Fed War Cruiser, lithe and sporty, that was jumped by some purpley bioglowing spider thing... In his favor -

Two scientifically WAGged Angled AEGIS shields on the nose "Because if you don't have Trojan brand ordinance prophylactic shielding, you don't have Protection!"

One Target-B-Gone(TM) Railgun spinal mount

Six EZR 'cept Particle Spewers in pairs

Two Tachycardia Pulse Cannons "make your heart race with these babies"

Two Clifford the Big Red Bolt Blasters

Two Porchlight iBeam Zappers, in light blue

One Hot Momma Brand (TM) Plasma Hurlatcha Cannon.

400 HP - 4+ Top Speed, .19 accel, .58 or so turn.

Nimble, well defended, well armed, can run from what it can't kill.

Here's a shot showing something eating the still twitching hulk of Captain Tom's Cruiser.

Image

WHAT IS THAT!?
.
"Ground Control, to Captain Tom."
.
Can you hear me, Captain Tom?
.
.
Something bugging me about that scene...

Pocket Dreadnought FSS Authority Figure Captain J. Starling reporting on the destruction of War Cruiser FSS Fat N Happy as reported earlier in this thread, encountered and destroyed an organic entity in the vicinity. This is believed to be the same entity responsible for the death of Captain Tom and the destruction of FSS Fat N Happy.

After collecting the remains of both the FSS Fat N Happy and the destroyed entity, Captain Starling reported an ambush by a much larger entity and briefly engaged, suffering significant damage before fleeing through hyper. The second entity did not suffer any visible damage.

Scientists reveal autopsy of Spider From Space

Post by lenb »

Latest scientific theory cannot explain how this biological process works, however it is very clear that it does. The material recovered matches no type of life form previously known, Human or Alien, so we've helpfully classified it as "Unknown Alien". This holds the potential to exponentially accelerate Humankind's technological development and scientific understanding.

Here we've produced the latest theoretical diagram of how this being once might have looked, had not our Navy friends reduced it to particles.

Image

Reports from Naval Personnel involved with fighting this being indicate that it emits highly energetic coherent beams of light from the vicinity of what we've tentatively labeled the cephalothoraxic region.

There are preliminary indications that the abdominal region is filled with a superplasmatic webbing fluid, emitted at relativistic velocity from the specialized structures at the rear.

A structure in the middle region of the dorsal carapace does seem to be a light emitter, albeit one that seems to use a chemical capacitance and crude ruby lense focusing syst.. hmmm maybe shooting lasers from it's eyes is not so far fetched then.

Finally, there is a structure in the abdominal region that has an eerie similarity to the 4 dimensional supertangle devices powering the latest hyperjump capable star ships.

So lets reveal the whole shebang

Post by lenb »

And, now for your viewing pleasure...

The Alien Broodling, previously revealed above ^

And the Alien Impregnator below

Image

It's a male. It has pedipalps. It is smaller than this one...

Image

The biggest one of them all!

Presenting. The Alien Hive Queen!
Image

And a size comparison with all three Alien Space Spiders, an Athena, a Hestia, and my Federation War Cruiser - Persecution Class - FSS Fat N Happy

Image

They're severely overpowered, but lovely looking when they tear up everything in sight and reduce your fps to 9.

I like these ships. The only issue is aesthetics vs balance- the Aegis modules of the backs of the two larger ones. While making them easy to access from behind, the white line are terribly ugly (I find, anyway).

Bugs in space are a popular concept. My thread from 2 weeks ago.
