Re: Anna Going Ballistic Over Books

Sounds like it's worth looking into, his completion of WOT was all I could have hoped it would be so I'm inclined to try more of his stuff. Thanks Anna.

Re: War for the universe - Ratai armada.

I really like the forest ship for some reason. Aside from it being probably the best of this batch (the gunship is pretty good to), for some reason that I just can't put my finger on I really like it. Maybe it's cause it has a sense of grand scale, or maybe it's just cause you turned the picture sid...

Shiny! I like it, good background choice too.

Re: War for the Universe - SAR ships

Whoo ships! The destroyer and cruiser feel a little too blocky and don't quite pull it off I find but the battlecruiser is great, excellent balance of armor and glowy bits.
That said, the corvette steals the show, blocky done perfect with the wing missiles. Nice stuff.

Re: Section Destruction Detection

If I recall correctly there is a way, I think it was Starstruck who came up with it. Essentially it involved a very quick, slightly moving section which would stop when the section you want to check was destroyed. Its stopping would then be used to trigger whatever else. Unfortunately, half an hour ...

Re: My new Flagship: 'OUTCAST'

You should still put some gradients or something on the big green glow. Even if it's just one gradient that's slightly lighter it'd help a lot.
And the core area doesn't really fit well. While I think I get what you were trying to do, I think you should cover it up or replace it with something.

jaypee you'll want to start looking at the previous post date. While necroing no longer really matters on this forum it's kind of pointless to give advice to someone who's probably long left.

Not exactly unexpected or unwaranted, I think most have lost interest in SM.

More importantly, happy birthday man; I hope it was a lot of fun :)

Re: Miniship fleets+ Encounters

I haven't played it but I gather it's a lot of fun and shaping up to be an actual game. And yeah, it looks to me a lot like GSB except it's not suffering from GSB's key flaw of not having anything remotely like gameplay. In terms of other similar recent games, there's also SPAZ which is a lot of fun...

Re: The Kraken

The front claws look too lopsidedly placed or maybe the connector's too slim. You could try making the connector out of muliple sections and angling them relative to each other so they're not just a straight line. The back claws look more like big turrets or something that sit on top of the hull tha...

Re: The Kraken

The fighter is quite good, particularly the front of it, though you'll want to push things 1 closer together so you don't have the gap in the middle. Also, your shading on it is backwards, the higher up sections should be lighter while the lower ones should be darker, imagine shining a light on the ...

Re: Miniship fleets+ Encounters

If you make them I'll play em, especially if they have a huge number of ships to exploit the small number of sections in each ship :D And yeah, it's always cool to see how two different fleets interact, even more so when they're balanced in different ways.

Re: Miniship fleets+ Encounters

You should probably give the frigate a bulbous nose too, it'd make it fit in more and look more interesting. Other than that I'm not 100% sure whether I like or dislike these to be honest though the cruiser's obviously the best.

Re: Miniship fleets+ Encounters

It's hard to really do much at such a small scale but they do like perfectly fine. As kp said the supercruiser is great though, nice design and really brings the fleet together. That aside, these'd be great for encounters because you could manage such a huge scale with them and if they're well balan...
