I've found that missile cruisers aren't as effective as I'd like them to be. It's better to place them on frigates as supporting weapons, since frigates are more easily massed (and hence more missiles would be massed). Missiles aren't very effective DPS dealers, it's better to place higher DPS weapo...

He can still swing his large postcount and his large library of rather pretty ships around. [rant] 'Cloak-and-dagger shit' should be the way it is. We do not publicly flog our criminals, and as in th15's rules, we do not beat idiots with sticks. It seldom makes them smarter. Let's face it people, th...

[OOC: I do like how multiple arguments seem to be going on all at the same time.] @Talhydras: Oh. I misread your post. Heh, I was going to suggest that the vapors disperse radiation, when I remembered that vapors tend to be invisible. Well, I do suppose now we're getting into some stuff that hasn't...

Don't forget kids, you have to keep the laser pointed on the missile for a rather significant amount of time in order to actually destroy it; unless you use rather high-voltage lasers for your point defense. Which sort of limits the amount you can deploy. @thanto_: The problem is that right now, we'...

Also, its not my mistake if people connect two phrases that I didn't intend to have connected. Yes it is. That's either bad communication (which can be fixed), or a lack of thought actually poured into what you're writing (i.e. you're not being self-critical). Remember: We're not psychic. We don't ...

Ah, massively growing forum argument (kind of slow at 2 pages a day, actually), bringing out people from all sides as we participate in locked combat, until some other idiot comes around and distracts us all. Like the ol' days before we had these silly 'rules' to prevent these. If I point my telesco...

As to the missiles' defense, any sort of point defense system which could be deployed in a large enough scale to actually shoot down thousands of missiles might not have the power to instantaneously destroy a missile. Considering the Star Wars 747 laser, it has to keep trained on its target for quit...

Meh. Did I miss a judging deadline extension or something? Anybody there? If you haven't noticed by absence from the IRC room and from the rest of the forums, I've been pretty preoccupied with stuff over on my end which supersedes the importance of judging this competition. As towards the requiremen...

Original Ship Entries Because I don't have nearly the same attention span or temperament as ArcaneDude as to shovel out individual points, I'll give scores and an explanation. Do note that the explanations don't show my entire thought processes into giving a specific score, only a general overview ...

I like the compactness of the editor, but I can't get the transparency working (does it require a special graphics card?), I can't make new notepapers (a tooltip may be helpful here?), there are no underlined shortcuts (need my shortcuts!), monospaced font would be nice (or a font dialog), etc... In...
