Arcalane & Kaelis, They are beautiful. Everything about them; the design, the color, the modifications, the functions of them within the fleet, the over all cohesion: it's wonderous to behold. This is a milestone in the growth of custom BSF ships. Oh, the potential, the inspiration to build that...

Version .2 is in-process.

Can anybody think of additional parts that should be in the Beginners' guide? I'll be adding what I can from the suggestions made above.

Thanks for your submissions.

Arcalane,

I was thinking about creating a thread like this, to ressurect the great old ships for SM3, but you've not only made the thread, and set the tone (asking for permission), you've recreated a great ship beautifully.

Well done.

Wow!

A spreadsheet could keep track of ship data, but a separate forum (just for the displaying of ships, no commentary) might really acomplish the directory.

Well done.

the database has a search function, hit ctrl+F and type the name of the fleet I hear you Tsakara, but I'm dreaming big. *Hello computer. Okay, find me all of the fast, little, harrasing ships. Let's see.. speed >=4 .. sections.. <=10 .. *Hey computer, how's the kids? Alright, I don't want to see an...

Now really is the best time to talk about this. Soon, any custom ship you play will have to have been made in SM3 (your SM2 ships will not be compatable). When that time comes, any old ship you wish to play will have to remade. How can we add statistics to our new ships, so we could find a fast, 10 ...

Ship Directory

Can anybody think of a way to have a directory of ships by name, designer, weapon layout, speed, modules, etc.?

Possibilities:
Make the database searchable? Add text files to the database? Add a ship spec format in the gallery?

Anyone?

Anna, Your Anna's Guide to Good Shipbuilding http://www.wyrdysm.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1244 is the definative source on making midsized and larger ships, heck just beautiful ships in general. May we include it: in whole, in part, or as a link/reference, and would you like to add to or change any...

Heh, I didn't know half of those controls. Will this be a "bare-bones" guide, as in technology and theory only, or will it also have an "aesthetics" guide? Normandy, may we include some part of this, or might you want to expand/re-write it? Normandy's guide to Small Ship Buildin...

It's actually Damage per Second, not Damage per Shot. Just to clear up any confusion. I was wondering about that. I put PER SECOND at first, and then thought "measuring PER SECOND is different from anyway I've ever seen." It does make sense given Beams, etc, with their sweeping properties...

When ever I try to add a custom ship into the game in sandbox mode my game crashes. Sakredlight, I've reposted this entry in the bugs thread http://www.wyrdysm.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=29140#29140 Please take a look there, where we can keep working on it. I always thought it rude to 'yell' at a n...

I would like to thank Normandy for volunteering to start up the aesthetics portion of the guide. What a great guy. :D

(Stryder ducks)

No really, how do you think we should best present aesthetics?

No really man.. don't hold back.

:D

I kinda' think of myself as Trekie-light (not the biggest fan, but it beats watching re-runs of The Facts of Life), but now that I think about it, I see your point.

I very much agree. This is why it's just a shell for the moment, but people are seeing the thread and thinking about options, and things will grow. Best wishes. edit: .. and TormakSaber: thanks. - - - - - - Doodads will be added to the missing portions of this document soon. It's my hope that we'll ...

Stryder's Sparrow

The Sparrow is a test of non-modified, regular weapons with high ship mobility and how the different AIs handle these types of ships. The Mining beams do little damage individually, but at 4 a piece, and multiplied by every ship in the pack, these many small beams do add up. They are very accurate a...
