I haven't been around the forums much lately, but that doesn't mean I stopped making ships. I just didn't feel too motivated to post them any more. ANYWAY... The last ship I made is having some trouble. It seems that when I spawn it in sandbox the parenting goes all wrong and sections that are suppo...

I'm compelled to say that, while not taking any sides here, "sack of noob" is a pretty hilarious diss.

Challenge for the Developers

Someone might have mentioned this in the last 29 pages, possibly me, but I think BSF should be made into an MMO. You should still be allowed to make anything you like in ShipMaker, but the bigger, more heavily armed, or otherwise better you make the ship, the more expensive it would get in the game....

You should totally make a version of this that's like a tank retrofitted with engines and stuff for space travel.
(Sorry if someone said that already, didn't have time to read... but if they did, I second their motion.)

For my part I never used the Arcas. I boarded the Cronus and either brought in a Cronus or an Athena (can't remember which one) to beat the level. The Cronus is good because it has a lot of health and you can use its flux projector to stop the aliens' weapons while beaming the crap out of them yours...

I've done that, but as I mentioned I have to re-mirror it immediately before saving to avoid glitches, "immediately before" here meaning that I can't subsequently rewire the drivers or the ship glitches again. I've started to wonder, why does the ship even have that whole mirroring data th...

So I've noticed an interesting nuance of ShipMaker: Sometimes when a ship has complicated triggering going on, when it spawns in-game BSF goes crazy with "error in action number _ of...", etc., BUT when I re-mirror the ship immediately before saving it the glitches go away. I imagine this ...

I'm getting the idea that SW-ization works wel lfor small and detailed sections, but when it comes to large monochromatic plates and such, you might just want to forgo the original SW style and actually shade it.

Perhaps someone will make some "shaded" sections for us sometime.

Thanks all you guys in the second half of the last page. I haven't given up yet ( here's a picture of what's going on so far ), and I agree with most of your suggestions. All you people in the first half: I really should compliment you guys; you have incredible skill at tearing people down  P.S...

The first few seem to be kind of "cut-out", i.e. have the same thickness in most places as if the top and bottom are flat. You might be able to counteract this by tweaking your shading and/or adding some smaller sections on the top to break up the surface. Unless of course that was what yo...

You seem to be making a mistake I've chronically had problems with, which is using large sections to fill space and ending up with a fairly flat ship. Keep in mind what the 3D shape of the ship might be and that you can make it look thicker by "stacking" sections up over each other. Also, ...

The front part of it is actually pretty close to what I was going for on the Architeuthis, but failed at.
So I like it.

*is sad*
I actually do practice by making loads of small ships, but I haven't been seeing the point of posting them as they add up to be boringly generic.
And I SHALL NOT GIVE UP! One day this ship will return and be much more impressive, and um... something good will happen, I presume.

Keep in mind that in real life (yes I know this is BSF and real life is irrelevant, but anyway...) colors on ships come from paint people put on them, so try to put the colors on in such a way that it looks like they were painted.

PK's Newest Capital

I continue to produce giant capital ships in the hope that I will improve. I've been holding off naming any of my ships this, because it's just such an awesome name that I knew I would have to wait until I developed enough skill and came up with a design awesome enough to be worthy of it. Thus, the ...
