I‘d honestly settle for having pretty ships. section layout and structure is pretty subtle. i doubt that most players will even notice weakspots in a section layout. this is doubly true because the parenting system in this game is built on actual collision. if two sections touch by even a pixel then...

Yea i understand that. and trust me i want good looking ships for this game. just don't be gratuitous about overlapping sections and it should be fine. Also, if you find you are overlapping to get a specific shape, you should probably just request for a sprite in that shape in the spurting thread

Thats probably just fallout of me using the popup messages. all of those messages should go away soon, they were just a convenient stop gap.

At this point id say that separate sprite sets for each of the 5 enemy races is probably a pipe dream. id settle for the 5 factions to just have different sets of ships. player ships don't have to be pre drawn and cut up, i just suggested that because it might be easier to draw and probably look bet...

I had to drastically reduce the hp of the stormcloud ships because otherwise they'd have like 20 times more total health than any other ship. which was ridiculous. as a result, each section on those ships has only like 20hp. having densely packed overlapping sections is something i would like to avo...
