In my post I specifically stated that we were playing with a long-side-of-the-triangle range of 0.05 light seconds, or 15,000km. Because I have repeatedly used this number every time I've referenced missiles, right? Seeing as how I have never, ever even mentioned a range of .05 Ls, and your posts h...

@Wicky_42 wut No, lets throw sensible mechanisms, such as making them explode when they come in contact with an enemy vessel, out the window. Instead, we should consider something capable of dissembling an enemy ship on atomic (or even molecular) level, magically transmuting those base elements int...

@Aralonia and anyone else railing me on astronomy stuff. I'll be the first to admit that I'm no astronomer (just did, in fact). This has led me to make a couple of conclusions that were based on misconceptions, and for that, I apologize. At the same time, it certainly didn't help that Talhydras's i...

@Noctis Because in order for something to be a viable space weapon, it needs to be really cool. @Aralonia Yeah, I know. It's far away. We also have the benefit of knowing exactly where it's at, because it's pouring out lots and lots and lots of energy. This does a lot to negate that whole "it'...

Sponge: For my living this summer I aimed telescopes at objects four billion light years away. I'm not sure I centered the object totally perfectly, but given a template of the object the computer certainly could. Sure, it was a quasar and slightly bigger than a missile bus, but it was also quite f...

I think you misinterpreted my comment. I was talking about potential future technologies. Future technologies do not necessarily have to rely on current technologies, at least in their present form. We, as a race, know of no law rendering teleportation impossible. I'm fairly certain there aren't any...

Do you have permission to write to said folder? That would certainly explain why screens aren't saving.

Okay; I was good with this scenario until the point where shit got all up in my fan. At that point, I realized that there was a pretty serious technological disconnect between our two takes on this situation. I was also pissed that you put shit in my new fan. I won't say that mine is practical with ...

I've been watching some of these videos, and they're hilarious. The guy's voice in the "Why creationists are laughed at" set just makes the whole presentation. He sounds like the snobbiest person you'd ever meet, and it just makes these just so much more fun to watch. <pseudo offtopic> so ...

Of course, long distance is out of the question. What I'm essentially arguing is that long distance is inherently impractical. If your opponent is a light minute away, how do you know how to aim your laser? If you're off by even the slightest fraction of a degree, you'll miss a target that's sitting...

I didn't have time to read the whole thread, so I just read the first post. I love this kind of stuff, though, so I'll come back for the rest later. I just wanted to say, and it might have already been stated, the following: Neutral particle beams are kind of silly. Neutral particles are neutral, as...

Yeah, lasers don't really have recoil.
Good sir, I do believe that there is a fairly good chance that you are wrong.

Anna hit the nail on the head. That said, I think these could actually be really fun to play with. Mess around with some light machine guns and maybe some hidden thrusters, set health to ultra low, and make an encounter. Might be fun.

All of your newer stuff is fucking awesome. I have no criticism at this point. It's a bit cluttered, but you pulled it off. Good to see some high-quality smallish ships around here for a change.
