Well, after shuting the computer down for the night, BSF is magically working again (not that that hasn't happened before though)... :? Well, either way, I was able to test the Raptor and frankly, I just didn't like it... Don't get me wrong, it's pretty well designed asthetics wise and it seemed to ...

I'd probably have some thoughts if I knew how to fix this 'external function' problem... :?

Oh sure, I've had it many times in the past, but it's been so long since I've had it that I don't remember how to fix it...

Well, I just got back from trying the Tiberia in Ginder (taking two of them and two Zelui) and I'm actually quite impressed as to how balanced it feels... At first I thought it seemed a bit fast but, like the Pietho, it makes a good trade-off of between speed and weapons (or, more accurately, concen...

to rephrase, basically each ship has several sets of wings or noses or whatever weapon system, and this would make the game randomly chose one upon spawning a ship in. I reckon that would be a great thing for pirate ships... Indeed, a simple version of this sort of thing already exists in BSF 1, wh...

Well, to answer your question, I ran the tests with the weapons set back to their defaults (and the ship's AI range reduced by 400)... Also, are the two foward railguns on the Manticore 3 supposed to still be modded? Also, the ship's AI range is still 1,000, which is outside of the range of default ...

Manticore (standard weapons and 600 AI range): Gunships: vs 1: Gunship destroyed vs 2: Gunships destroyed vs 3: Gunships destroyed vs 4: Gunships destroyed, Manticore 2 starboard rear sections destroyed (and the starboard rear weasel gun along with them) vs 5: Gunships destroyed, Manticore 1 starboa...

Modded weapons, 'ey? Umm, I hate to burst your bubble but, as cool as those ships look (and indeed, they are surprisingly true to the Hecate/Athena design and probably wouldn't look too bad next to other canon ships), you really shouldn't be using a whole lot of modded weapons... It's a real no-no w...

I see. Sorry for jumping to conculsions... :) Anyway though, Phwk's system is just one way of testing the ships... If you guys can suggest something better, please let me know and I'll pit the Artemis (maybe after doing some modifications to it) against said test... Anyway, here are the results of t...

Well, I see no one seems to be interested in trying to make balanced 4 point ships after all... Either way, I will at some point run a few more 'gunship' and 'raider' tests for the Hecate and Athena... What I'm thinking of doing for them is to test both ships twice, once on normal AI and once on bro...

Hmm... what about the fact that an AI Cronus can take out 4 waves? Does that classify it as a "mega-battleship"? (And it'd be higher if the AI knew how to use the Flux Projector.) Well, neither Phwk's test 'nor the balance on the canon ships is perfect... Indeed, Phwk's system often fails...

The Mega-Battleships (4 point vessels)

Hi everyone... I seem to remember a while back that TH once said that he would have preferred for the battleships in BSF to be larger than the ones we have now and be worth 4 points instead of 3... I could be remembering this wrong, but none-the-less, I thought it would be a fun thing to do to try a...

the Railgun's utility is not that it deals a lot of direct damage, but that it can skip sections and strike components, much like a Lancet. You can use this to whittle away at enemy turrets and modules to disarm them before actually killing them. so lancets and railguns could be used to blow up a l...
