Now that toggling has been brought up, I'd like the option to disable some sections appearing in the menu (maybe just the "custom" ones?) - it takes too long to scroll around to the section I want.

That's entirely subjective. My Windows 64 has bluescreened me once in like, 4 years. I have no firewall (disabled the windows one). No anti virus. I like keeping my processes clean. In fact my only complaint about windows is that the time server is bloody useless. And yes, I am in fact using an OS ...

I have a lot of games that i still want to play. Will i be able to play all of them with Linux? Of course not. Most of them will work with Wine, but the fact it doesn't work with everything is why I dual-boot. I spend 90% of my time using Linux because it's faster, stabler, easier to use, and secur...

The only reason i haven't tried out Linux is gaming. I have this old computer though. It's still in use and hooking it up to the Intarwebs would be nice. However, i doubt Windows 98 is that safe any more since firewalls and antivirus programs probably won't work on it. Not to mention it doesn't get...

Linux is FREE?? Wow, I really didn't know that. It seems that microsoft DO manage to brainwash all their customers. Though I'm iffy at trying it out. Is it as simple as choosing whether to boot a comp in linux or standard windows? Yes, you get a menu on startup. Like I said, PM me if you have any q...

Linux - Why you should try it

There seems to have been little interest in the announcement that Battleships Forever (and indeed, all Game Maker games) run on Linux. This topic is here to tell you what Linux is, why I use it and what benefits it could have for you. Since Linux is free, there is no downside to trying it. I dual-b...

They're mediators for the strong nuclear force.

You mean you didn't know that? There's something BF-related you don't know? We're all doomed!

Seriously though, physicists still have no idea what their behaviour is beyond the label.

Have you added/can you add an external preference to skip those sections of code that refer to music, for compatibility testing purposes? I realise it's just me doing it, of course.

...Wow.

Depthing is always the worst part. I tried to make an isometric game using just a 2D engine and it was practically torture trying to sort out what objects appeared where.

What version of Vista are you running? I've just tested it and it works fine on Vista Home Premium. I ask because my copy of Vista doesn't have some of the security "features" that other versions may have. In particular, User Account Control may interfere with the game having access to it...

Redrawing the screen and drawing text in Game Maker during a loop can slow down the game a lot, especially the extra calculations for things like percentage done, how much has been loaded, etc. I'd suggest taking out the "LOADING" message, maybe just show a message box beforehand if it is ...
