yeah, the colour scheme could do with some, well, colour... i'm thinking of adding more colour by adding indicators on weapons/generators displaying how much energy they have, and i could implement some interesting game mechanics that way...

i always make a concept sketch of a design before i start working on it so that I know what I'm aiming to make. then I just make the sprites in any order that gets it done...

yeah, i think it's because i did the highlights better at the front. Also, the texture I'm using actually did originate from textures I first used to texture guns in 3d modelling, so that's why it looks that way!

@Arcalane - yeah i suppose it is a slight problem when the artillery rounds materialise several feet in front of the turret. i like the design styles. they're original but you can see definate form. my main critiscism for the most recent ships is the sprites you're using. They just look too flat for a good effect

i didn't know that thanks. but i think they still look pretty good on their own anyway @rugdumph - thanks :D i put quite alot of effort inot getting all the highlights and shadows right. there are only a few sprites used more than once thorought the ship as well, so it took quite a bit of time, but ...

yeah GIMP is awesome! i tend so save section sprites as .png and doodads as .gif not to get them confused. then just drag and drop the sprites into the ship maker window...

I recently applyed custom glow effect to a section, changing only the colour of the glow. However, when i loaded the ship into sandbox the placement of the glow moves backwards and forwards rather than remaining in a single place.
