Forgot to post, both sets are pretty sweet and I can't think of anything much to criticize. Though I do think that the front arm of the big mining ship is too slanted and too small, it doesn't look great and doesn't really fit with the other ships where the assymetry works well.

I say we stick with passive until we get fairly near the mining base. Then, assuming it's not hostile, we do an active scan when we're near to let us see what the passive scanners can't pick up while still staying safe.
