Firstly, there's no such thing as "real space combat" to begin with. Since . . . well, I think the reasons are obvious. Though "conjectural space combat" is a different story. And I don't think that "terrain" would be that difficult to do, if one were to go in and fiddl...

They get kudos, though, for diverging from the general "brickiness" of other ships. I'm not sure how effective they'll be, but with the whole handfulls of deflectors on one hand and the lattice-based, fragile looking structures and exposed cores on the other, things may balance out to make...

And a new ship, starting work on a second fleet: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b51/Nocturnal1331/Naros11.png I want to get the Vagrant fleet polished up, maybe cement the custom colors in, then start work on this second batch with a completely different design philosophy. Namely: - Symmetry (Mos...

If they all shot at the same target, you'd get the top one. But the bottom one is what I'm talking about achieving . . . making the whole stuck-together turret rotate as one unit.

I like it. Though it looks a little bit brickish as it is . . . but if you layered more different colors through the body, you could make it look like it's building up. Also, do the dual-railgun turrets rotate as a unit? Or do the railguns simply move independently? I don't know how managing the for...

A very roles-oriented fleet does end up being hamstrung by the AI, to an extent, since it's not intelligent enough to, say, position the ship with the nano as close to as many other ships as possible. Still, if you want to make a fleet (as opposed to a bunch of ships), each ship should be different....

Thanks for the input, all of you. And now, here's a rundown on what's actually there, and how I've tried to balance them. (Note: All deflectors have been modified to give a slightly less ugly effect. It looks whitish, or rose colored, but it's not an Aegis. In fact, there are no Aegis on this fleet ...

Yet Another First Fleet

I downloaded BSF a few days ago and have been noodling about in the Shipmaker since. In the process, I've put together a decent enough fleet that I figured I'd see what people think. Here's a rather low quality JPG: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b51/Nocturnal1331/BFscreen01.jpg And here's the sh...
