Not only should it look better, but will also be physically correct, as red parts of "flame" are cooler than the yellow ones.
But even now it looks great and it's pleasurable to look at this...

Actual thruster use, and mini thruster thrusters for turning. I think this one is a good idea but one should be able to choose whether his ship will use this or not - there are some people that don't want to place thrusters all over their ships.
