The battletech ships I made grew from a similiar structure, though mostly because I wanted a distinction between "Internal Structure" sections and "Armour" sections.

Nice :)

Also looks cool as they take damage, armour gets peeled away to reveal the bones of the ship underneath.

I think we need to take a moment to remember that the people who are participating in the cold war are doing so because it's fun, they are enjoying the challenge and it's creating some really beautiful ships. Sure if your ship building tastes don't run in the same direction you can't really play aga...

Advice can hardly be considered offensive, especially when I asked for it, and yeah, wasn't perfectly happy with the hull shape, for a start it's to thick for a destroyer considering the length of the ship, but I was thinking in terms of (a) getting a decent point on the bow, and (b) leaving room to...

I'm not certain wether it's the colours or the parts selection, but the design just doesn't feel cohesive to me, kinda looks orky I guess.

...speaking of which

I remember seeing pictures of an anime, something about the battleship yamamoto, basically a wet navy battleship in space, and that, along with my morbid fascination with naval warfare, has spawned this : Thorn Class Destroyer http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/513/thornup9.jpg As the name suggests,...

It looks so sleek and elegant, the type of war ship I could see having batteries of weapons concealed beneath it's armoured hull Perhaps group weapons strategically in clumps? Not really sure how you'd go about giving the impression that they're normally hidden, nor if I've even managed to express t...

I was always under the impression that the battlecruiser designation fell to ships with the heavy merchant raider design philosophy, sometimes also known as pocket battleships I think, but basically it was to mount the firepower of a battleship on a hull as quick as a cruiser (generally sacrificing ...
