What about polygon sections? Basically you would click a special button and them lay out a shape point by point, like in elma or the other games which had this that I can't remember. :)

Them again, that would probably result in a ridiculous number of crappy ships made out of one of those...

Perhaps Pete meant a static Rorschach, IE; one that doesn't fire an interceptable device, and instead produces a "bubble shield" that protects the ship from beamers for a designated amount of time... Well if that's not what he meant, a suggestion nevertheless... Yeah, this. Damm that Rors...

Screenshots for the win, buddy. Anyway, I tried it. Its a nice, medium-to-small sized ship, doesn't seem to have too high amount of weapons, and aside from a bad parenting choice (why did you parent everything off that section 03? If it goes, it takes half of the ship with it!) and lack of coloring,...

Well, Im not exactly an expert, but... I think that the hp value is how much the core itself will have. The sections around the core seem to have a bit more than this value, their hitpoints decrease with distance from the core. Parts behind the core have less than in front of it. EDIT: D'oh. Ninja'd.
