well, you could have specified that its has repair nanites :P

Otherwise, beefing up a ship is always a good/bad thing. Sometimes beefing it up may cause it to change its shape, or make it look weird, or even repetition and/or use of sections that break up the form and/or function of the interior.

it does look a bit thin for a supership. Then again, fridge logic would dictate that all the money went into the shielding system and not the "beef-up the hull" part of designing the ship.

There is indeed potential in that shape. You could work on color depthing (lighter shade = peices closer to the top, darker shade = farther from the top) and using smaller sections to define the shape.
