Well 'do not stretch' has obviously been said, but my advise would be to build smaller. Don't go to the other extreme and cram pieces together, but there is no reason you couldn't make that ship in a third of the space. Its always a smart idea to start at stock size and move up from there, imo. If ...

Thanks for the large amount of advice. It helps a lot when people do that.
But a while after building some more, I decided to scap the dreadnaught idea. I flipped the ship around, continued building, and finished with this:

I don't mean making them actual sections to use later, but to make them all one section on the ship so that it doesn't lag so much.

Thanks. In response to it looking flimsy, I'll actually connect the "wings" to the middle section completely, but making the space in-between dark.
By the way, is it possible to make portions of the ship be only one section? If so, how do I do it?

Yeah, sorry about the stretching D:
I don't have any large sections, and I'm not sure how to make a bunch of peices be only one section. I also need to practice "flow" more.
But I'll try and make it look better as I build on.

My second dreadnaught. WIP

I'm currently making another large ship after a burst of inspiration. So I thought I'd come over here and show you what I have so far, so that you could say what you want added to it before I finish. Say any mistakes that I need to fix, what you feel the shape of this ship should be, or any other co...

Devour's Works of Practice

I'm starting up a new ship thread. But I'll be taking more time to plan and work on each ship before I post them. So lets get onto what I've made, then. http://i28.tinypic.com/iy09b9.png The Supporter My last C&C I recieved from a ship advised me to work more on the "flow" of a ship. I...

I'm studying it all. Hoping my next ship will turn out much better. But feel free to still give in your two cents of help.

Okay I'll follow your advice. However, Im not sure how to "put my peices together with regard to how they'll function with each other." I'll look at some ships and hopefully learn what you mean.

The front middle area? Sorry, but I can't see where you're talking about.
Thanks for the advice though. But also, do you know where I can get larger sections so I don't have to stretch the parts?

Nephthys, the Goddess of Justice

I recieved advice to go forum lurking for a while. I did that. I learned some things along the way, but I also spent time thinking about what I should make next. Seeing the screen filling dreadnaught that somebody made, which looked amazing to me, I decided to make a large ship of my own. Equipped o...

Didn't you say that you suggested I put colors in those places?
Well, I'll edit it without colors later.
Also, thanks for the advice maarten. It's really helpful.
But here's that ship I showed you earlier on msn, Xynus. Colored and completed.

The first ship is weird. Probably because you're using so much of the same peice. It is creative, though. If these are your first ships, its not too bad, but its not all that pleasant to look at either. The way you put the peices together is messy, and it looks like it wouldn't fare well in combat. ...
