Dark grey looks pretty flat so it does look a bit messy. Shape and colors are pretty decent but the connection between the stern and bow halves is kinda flimsy.

I would like to comment on the seeming lack of unity in structure style for a fleet. The frigate seems to be a large pod-shaped ship, while others seem to have outriggers/wings. Still sticking with the merchantman status, so weapons are all fairly vulnerable. Dual torpedo tubes are pretty powerful, but they take almost half a minute to reload. Flares for extra goodness.

By animation, do you mean the recoil action or the doodads?
