need to tone down the colors and the
core looking thing in the middle does
not really match the rest of the ship.

OH MY SCREWING DEITY! 3D1L<>k, this is just one of the many random and disturbing things you will see on this forum. :lol: I think you should keep the tentacles, because they look very organic and if you could make them move even a little would help sell the idea that its a living...

I like the idea, but these ships just have to much repeating in it. Try swiching up section usage and also, the colors are a tad bright in my opinion. What would be really cool if you could make it so the tentacles waved around when the beams fired, that would help with it looking more like a living...

Err... the bottom ones are good but the top ones
look a wee bit blank for my taste.

The Ares reminds me of a beetle , but in a good way, great work redoing
it. I can foresee lots of good ship coming out of this.

As for it looking cool, I thought it looked cool, which is my own opinion. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion. :wink: Now to the ship. It is a rather good ship, although the back looks a bit frail compared to the rest. Try moving the engine sections into the back of the ship. I like the look...

I feel that the ships are to different of style to be one single fleet... Usually the style stays somewhat the same... Not necessarily, a fleet does not have to be the same style, it can be united by other ways, although a mismatched fleet is a wee bit confusing. And the idea of a fleet of prototyp...

To me the wings look a bit frail. maybe if you filled them in it would fix that.
One more thing, what are those pointy-circlely things in the bottom
right? Are they mines or target dummies?

I like the back-story and the ships are good for a noob.
however, the Ares's glow dosnt quite mach the rest of the
ship.Its a good start though.
