F9 as a hotkey makes blank .png's when in the shipmaker. Works fine in BSF sandbox though. They also save default in 2 different places, if that makes a difference. BSF saves them to base directory, and SM saves blank files to \SMScreenshots

the blank white is a problem I have: just use PrintScreen and paste to your favorite program (paint) and cut out what you want. With the thrusters: I had the same problem. You need to attach them to the parent, and then use the Hotkey for "set depth below parent" which I believe is W. I ca...

Also, a comment on the color? That blue is so very dark, but it has very few highlights. You may want to choose a lighter shade highlight. This will cause portions of your ship to stand out and gain attention. Without the highlights, the ship tends to blend with itself, which both makes it seem one ...

very nice use of the effect. As a suggestion: if you use the black background only, I would either enhance the middle graphic, or reduce the ring, so that the blue points of the vortex just barely graze the metal of the structure on ALL sides. That would give it the impression of a vortex coming fro...

Things can shear when they have a force acting against them. Forces like gravity, or air friction. Many a space-only probe, satellite, or space station currently existing has parts that are just as "flimsy" and that would not survive in atmospheric conditions. Its not truly possible to &qu...

I need to clean up the back I think, but I like the look. Whatever represents the "cutting" blades I wanted to be like immense vibro-blades, but they all pixelate. I'll try paint out with these pieces to clean it up. Does the back end needs cleanup too I think, but that... I am at a loss o...

it looks better on the right, sandbox, than in front. I'm going to redo the front blades, but I'm not sure how yet. Any suggestions for a back end that actually LOOKS like trailing tentacles? I agree, Kaelis, I know what I'm trying to get to, but its not coming together cleanly. Also, I am beyond be...

Ok, its late, and once again I am screwing around with parts and concepts with little idea where I'm headed, and on way too many (legal) drugs. Concept: Anemone inspired design: tactical purpose - Ramming (question recently posed in the Q&A thread) Concept: A thruster fire that looks like its co...

yeah, I did the weapon spam on my first, since its easy to think about in-game uberness, but it really does look ugly with all the weapons. Good rule of thumb I learned: don't ADD weapons, just make parts to represent weapons in the hull out of user parts, and add the weapon effects to your OWN guns...

start by changing up the color scheme, and reduce or remove the weapons. In general from colors, try to pick a main tone, a blend tone that is similar to the main, and a highlight tone for a little contrast. A little mind you, don't pair polar opposites on a color wheel. So, red, maybe either orange...

Well, it was said he'd do so when he figures out how... @molemian Take a screenshot with F9. It will save as BFscreen00.bmp, BFscreen01.bmp, etc, in the Battleship directory. If you can't find that, do a search. Mount the image online with a hosting site. www.Photobucket.com seems to be a favorite. ...

Hi Prim
Find other public parts HERE in Wyrdysm's Custom Content section

I was actually just providing that link on our own website for the section Prim. Kaelis made an assload of new parts, Arc made some nifty turrets, and a ton of other work you can use that isn't in the editor.

... If you don't understand my diction, just stick to the pictures. Green circles are examples of what looks good. Yellow circles are examples of what does not look good. I can suggest things if you post or PM me the .sb4 file, and I'll just take a picture of the example, and show you. But 3 posts l...

I agree; its been a challenge with resizes. I don't know if you know a solution to that: my only thought is to go over the pieces that are over-pixelelated and cover them with smaller detail parts while retaining the original shape. Only other option I know is to use a visual editor and manufacture ...

I agree: there comes a point when you can point out that ANY inspiration has to come from somewhere. The greatest creative forwards in any field of any time have all been credited by the artists to some kind of inspiration. I personally think the ship looks great, and even if you had make an exact v...
