The purpose of the coloured tiles is to act as a filter, as opposed to something that invaders must travel over. So the first two maps in your second post won't work the way you'd expect them to.

To be perfectly honest I should be thankful that people have even bothered to reply to my ideas, because it obviously shows that pplz care about what other people think (god its hard to get appreciated these days) Well, at least you haven't made the n00bish mistake of taking criticisms personally. ...

First off, I would also like to state that I'm not a fan of "special towers" in tower defence games, like the base NUD you suggest. They just come off as gimmicky in my opinion. As for these death towers, I completely hate the idea. The idea of a NUD decreasing stats goes completely agains...

First off, I'm going to have to mirror what the other two have said, your english is appalling, though it would be excusable if english wasn't your native language. Either way, you need to touch up on english grammar because I can barely make out a word you're saying. As for the suggestions (at leas...

These are fairly solid looking ships. I like the colouring (it gives it a sort of rusty look), but like others have said, the shape is fairly generic, and the runways on the carriers look rather "flat", almost like they're painted on the outer hull, as opposed to them leading from the insi...

It is good to know that NUD is still being developed. Of all the games you've made, this one has to be my favourite. I'm glad you took up the tier 4 upgrade idea (I also particularly like the idea of branching upgrades), it should definitely make the late game more interesting. As for re-naming the ...

Taking your comments into account, I've redesigned the ship as follows... http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/4420/avengerbeta2y.png I've ditched the red ageis for now (it was supposed to be something like an exhaust glow, I didn't want to spend masses of time on it so I just used fake ageis for a quick ...

Experimenting with a few ideas...

Hello one and all! The Mulletron is back after a brief hiatus, with a brand new ship design. http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/8997/avengerbeta1.png The overall concept of this design is to create a ship with a core section, surrounded with various outer sections, with gaps separating them. The cor...

After fiveish months of lurking at the bottom of the forums, I've decided to dig up this old thread and continue work on this again, and after about a week's work, here's what I have to show for it... http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/3491/tercruisr.png Cruiser - Terran Scimitar http://img413.image...

The general shape of the first two ships are good, and you use the glows to good effect, but you have gone way overboard with the detail. IMO, the interior is way too busy, to the point where its distracting me from the rest of the ship. You could probably do with throwing in some low-detail section...

Obviously you don't have any idea how resource-intensive vector graphics are. Actually, I know more than you may think (if I didn't knew what I was talking about, I never would have suggested it). Yes, you can argue that bitmaps are less resource-intensive because raster-based graphics don't requir...

I would have to mimic what the others are saying about the ablative armour. The way it follows the outline of the ship is fairly awkward, and it overlaps the ship sections in several areas. If I were using ablative armour, I would use it sparingly, and would also avoid spamming the same section too ...

I would like to make a suggestion concerning the graphics. Instead of using bitmaps/sprites to draw sections onto the screen, what about using vector-based graphics instead. This would require coding a separate editor for custom sections, but it would make BSF2 far less resource-intensive.

After a couple of weeks working on and off on this, I have finally finished my latest iteration of the new Xor design... http://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt240/the_mulletron/Xor_Carier_Protyp.png I chose the carrier as the guinea pig for my new design idea. The idea is the same as the idea for the...
