Nuclear Warheads. You don't need anything else. What I would like to know is how these ships are changing direction so quickly and so often... you can only carry so much rocket fuel! It seems you are only taking present-day, nay, 1960s-era technology into account. Space combat will be very differen...

These ships honestly don't look good. They suffer from the following problems: - Repetition: The same section is used too many times. Try using different sections and resizing/flipping sections to achieve what you want. But don't stretch a section too much or it'll become pixelated and distorted. - ...

The Polaris looks a hell lot like the Aurelian Glorious Divinity as far as shape is concerned, especially the back and middle areas. But with different sections, a much worse color scheme, and a crapload of detail.

The Arcturus' shape is ok, but I don't like that combination of green-ish dark gold with dark blue. Just my personal opinion.

Ok, the new Paladin is up, with the close-up shot in the Fleet Post above.

It is approximately the same size as the old ship.

Comments requested.

The shape and the weapons are good but... the ship's color scheme is sort of bland. :| Not much to say about it. I believe the core beam uses multiple overlapping linked beams to achieve that glowy effect, with one of those beams being shorter-ranged to make it look as if the beam intensity is dropp...

just a thought I had about armor. You guys are saying nano-carbon is the best you'll get and that you'd still need a crap ton of it to be effective thus slowing you down. What about energized armor. you know, running a current through a material that when a certain type/frequency of energy is chann...

Space has no gravity or inertia... I'm not reading you're post beyond this. You're talking out of your ass here. Learn physics and come back. Space has gravity. All of spacetime has gravity. But it doesn't really matter in space combat unless you're fighting close to a planet/moon, in which case ma...

My source is projectrho.com/rocket, the Atomic Rockets website. Primarily. Apart from that, the rec.arts.sf.science usenet group seemed to be a good source for asking stuff that hadn't already on Atomic Rockets, though I haven't gone their for a while. And then of course, there's Wikipedia. How woul...

The blue bit on the rear of the Corsair is the engine glow, which disappears anyway when the Thruster-X fires. As you can see, I tend to do small ships better than big ones, and this has been so for all my fleets. But I try... Anyway, those comments were really needed. I'm thinking of doing a more a...

It's hard to talk about space combat without defining the tech-level you're talking about. You can't have one guy talking about ion drives and nuclear missiles while some other guy talks about RKVs. They're worlds apart. I think much of the above conundrum depends on the abundance and ease of availa...

I don't really like these ships. They look generic and boring, and are cliched long, thinnish bricks. Not much to say. :|

Interior? You mean the pieces I used for the border of the warp gate, or the actual interior of the gate(which is a single slowly rotating low-alpha blue Sun sprite from the Stock Misc folder)?

I have an idea. Simplify the weapons into 10 classes on the basis of modifiable characteristics: ____________________ Regular Weapon: Blaster, Gatling Blaster, Pulse Gun, Gatling Pulse Gun, Repeater Gun, Twin Blaster, Plasma Ball, Vulcan Cannon, Particle Rifle, Machine Gun, Tachyon Driver, Quad Blas...
