Re: Reviving the Community

I've been checking back about once a month to see if anything new has happened with the development. I was working on making the FreeSpace 2 ships a couple years ago. It was fun for a while until I started trying to make some of the bigger ships. I was already getting somewhat discouraged by the tim...

I can't really comment on functionality too well since there's no download yet but nice job, especially on the frigate. The only one that I'm not sure that I like the looks of is the anti capital destroyer. It might look better if the "wings" were attached a bit differently. A smoother tra...

You've never seen that before? It's an offical screenshot of the GTVA Colossus under construction. It was taken from the Colossus cutscene.

BSF can handle ships with 2000 pieces. It just takes forever to load, and runs at 2-3 SPF (Seconds per Frame). Which is why I'm not gonna bother until at least the upcoming update to BSF is finished. I may not even be finished making the destroyers by then (especially since I have less free time du...

I'm not even going to bother with the Sathanas or the Colossus until th15 fixes the performance issues with BSF. As it is the Orion will have about 400 pieces by the time I'm done. The Sathanas on the other hand will probably have more than 2000 pieces. I'll have to build it in chunks with the ship ...

I would hardly call that a falure. It's not all that bad for a beginner. Sure there's some exessive piece stretching on the top one, but it's not bad enough to call it a falure. The bottom ship is not a falure either and it wouldn't be too hard to make it better.

That's a whole lot or repetition there. I was following the pattern on the textures. Repetition can sometimes be a good thing. It all depends upon why it is repetitious and how it looks once it's done. It seems to be lacking some colouring in areas, but well done. The piece layering looks kind of u...

FreeSpace 2 Ships - Destroyers (GTD Orion WIP)

FreeSpace 2 destroyers are on the way! I'll try to keep these as accurate to the originals as I can. These are the biggest ships that I have ever made in BSF so this is going to be a learning process for me. These will obviously take me much longer to do than the other FS2 ships so please be patient...

Wasn't the SSD Executor bigger than that? I'm not really liking the section17s on it. Also that ISD looks a lot better than the one on the first page. :)

Oh I remember that thing (although I don't think too many people here would know what it is). That's one scary brick and it's definately not the easiest thing to do in BSF. It's probably going to be very difficult to make it look good although it would probably help if it were bigger. You couldn't g...

That is significantly better. :) Is that square area on the right some sort of dock or hanger? It looks a bit out of place (it's much simpler and very square compaired to the rest of the station) so you may want to work on it more.

:( No comments. Is it worth me continuing these? Or just moving on? Keep working, your improving. :D I'd like to see more of the LWA fleet although I agree that the colorsheme could be better. The space station also looks like it could use some more work. It doesn't look all that functional as a st...

Your new fleet looks very nice. I like how you used the section 25s. That's repetition done right. :)

I really like that tanker. Almost looks too good to destroy (almost :P ). Very nice job. I'd probably use something different than those section07s on the back of the Squall and the Windstorm. They look a bit odd with such a big difference in the line width. Very good and unique designs other than t...

I would have to agree with Lizzie. I'm afraid that color scheme makes them look like leaves. If this were Leaves Forever it would be fine, but it's not.
