edit after looking at Papal fleet - damnation!! That is a very similar color scheme that I chose for one of my neutral factions. Oh well.

In re: the weapons placement -

Pipe organs pipes have funny shaped openings at the tops some of them. Mega beams or beams might give the same look.

Very nice, although hard for me to see. I like the contrast between the light and dark colors, but my bad eyes don't let me fully appreciate it.
