V - aViation, denotes vessel with a dedicated launch deck for aircraft and can carry more than 3 naval aircraft without serious disassembly
X - eXperimental, denotes vessel with experimental devices, such as weapons or combat support avionics

NOTE: Ship designations can be stacked - it's possible, with certain configurations, to make CCRS (Cruiser, Command, Rocket, Schnell)

[work in progress as I find more loopholes]

Just a place where I can access my designation system anywhere. Posted here for people to look.

Which means I have to redesignate all my ships. AGAIN.

Nobody's wondered about the lack of 'battleships' yet, huh? :P

'Battleship' and 'Dreadnought' are designations referring to Earth ships of the line and the 1905 ship 'HMS Dreadnought', respectively. What if Dreadnought never existed? 'Monitor' was originally the designation for an armoured riverine vessel carrying large weapons. I think it sounds better than 'Dreadnought', mostly because 'Dreadnought' is an overused term.

But most navies on Earth use 'Battleship' and 'Battlecruiser' designations anyway, don't they? And you seem to be lacking any form of small scale ship, like corvettes and so forth.

Corvettes kinda suck because frigates and up pop them too easily. Battleship/Battlecruiser is an arbitrary/overused designation in my opinion. XD;

I suppose that every ship with a weapon is a 'battleship', but I always think a battlecruiser is one up from the bog cruiser.

Battlecruiser is designated as "fast cruiser" or "schnell cruiser" on Aralonia. Battlecruiser originally as an earth vessel was a battleship sized hull with battleship guns and cruiser armour and high speed, superseded by improved hullforms which led to the fast battleship (HMS Hood --> USS Iowa evolution)

Right, I get ya now, Too late to change any of my designations now. GCHMS is an old-fashioned pile of posh toffs in fancy ships anyway.

A Monitor was origionaly a vessel that had had it's main guns and a mast removed and replaced with heavy siege weapons (Mortors).
