Here is a fleet I had in the backburner for a long time. One of the reasons being that I had to revise a lot of things. In the end though, it was the trouble of actually naming the ships. So, meh. Anyway, hope you like them. Crits and comments are welcome =). So without further ado, here it is:
In a galaxy far far away …
It could be surmised that Terrans had a giant leap in space faring technology when their launched probes detected an anomaly on the surface of the planet Mars. They spent many years investigating the anomaly until they managed to build a ship that is capable to travel to Mars. What awaited them there went beyond their wildest imaginings. Their discovery of extra terrestrial ruins on that planet gave them knowledge that leaped their technology a 100 years ahead! With this discovery, Terrans found a purpose for their race, which is to explore into the furthest reaches of space and to discover the aliens that left the ruins on Mars. To that end, so pure was their intent, so uniformed was their purpose, the nations of the home planet of Terrans, Terra decided to merge under one leadership, under one guide, which was named the United Terran Alliance (UTA). Never before was such a huge undertaking and alliance was ever recorded in history.
The next 100 years was spent by UTA on producing and harnessing the technology that they managed to unearth from the ruins on Mars. Now, fifty years after the first wave of ships left Terra on a mission of peace and colonisation, Terrans have found themselves colonizing and exploring almost all of the planets in their galaxy. The technology of faster than light (FTL) travel made all this possible in such a short span of time. However, Terrans have not yet made contact with any intelligent alien races, especially the race that was responsible for the ruins on Mars. In the meantime, ships are continually upgraded and refitted, ensuring that the military might of UTA will always be able to handle the dangers of space.

Commander Neil Adams
“The Aquila is the smallest ship in the fleet. It was designed as an interceptor corvette equipped to take out smaller ships. It has fast manoeuvres to increase its survivability. The Aquilas were not meant to be run by itself. They are usually part of a small group, utilizing their faster speed for recon and interception. Never doubt that speed is the Aquila’s greatest strength!”
Commander John Bishops
“Against bigger ships, UTA tends to use the Agrippas more. They are equipped with long range torpedoes that do great damage. Again, just like the Aquila, they are meant to be in groups. In a medium to close range fight, they have mining beams to stop any opposition from getting too close. A group of Agrippas can take out a space station if the anti missile defences are down.”
"Known for its long range artillery fire, the Augustus uses its Hellcaster beam weapon to great use. Usually staying at the back of the fleet, the only warning you will get is a sudden flash of bright light as a yellow beam appears for a brief second, nullifying the ship armour. At the same time, the Augustus fires a whole blanket of particles to cause confusion amongst the attacking ranks. A great long range attacking vessel that can strike from where you least expects it."

“Brutus is a huge heavy Frigate armed to the teeth! It is equipped to deal with small ships with its porcupine missile system and also able to handle bigger ships with its quad barrelled Hell Dart Cannon. This hulking behemoth is well armoured and enemies usually run away in fear rather than face it. The only downside is that the ship is heavy, taxing the engines. It is slow but once it digs in and starts to fire the quad barrelled cannon, most things start exploding.”
“The Vitus is a defensive vessel. Its role is to protect ships with its blanket fire of particle and flak fire. Fortunately, it is not fully defensive as it fires concentrated plasma from the drivers which is able to shield itself from enemy fire that collides with it. It is a great asset that increases the defensive potential of any attack group in the fleet.”
Science Officer Peter Ricardo
“The tactical ship codenamed Cato was firstly conceived as a civilian grade science vessel. However, the military has modified its use for more tactical military manoeuvres. Not really meant for being in the front lines of battles, it is only armed with one mining beam. In fact, it’s armed with tactical weapons, meaning to slow down enemy fire and take out their weapon systems. To ignore the Cato is to ensure your own defeat.”
“The Servius is a repair vessel. It houses millions of nanobots capable of repairing UTA ships even in the midst of battle. However, the range is limited and it needs to be close to the ship that it is repairing. The design of the vessel is quite hardy, making sure that it could withstand attacks while repairing itself and other friendly ships nearby.

“When the UTA wants to deliver a very clear message to the opposition, the attack cruiser Nero does the job admirably. One of the largest ships in the fleet, It has anti capital ship beamers to make short work of cruiser class ships and bigger. It is well armoured and usually spearheads the fleet on any attack run.”
“The Nerva on the other hand, functions as a carrier. With its drones, it can stay from afar and whittle down enemy ships to destruction. The Nerva usually operates as the commanding ship in a fleet, because of its size and function, which is unique to the other military ships in UTA.”
“For fast security over the UTA’s borders, Defensive Platforms are deployed. They are small military outposts that are compacted with weapons. Most of the time they are automated but the Defensive Platforms do function as a forward base where UTA ships can dock and resupply.

You can download and test the ships >HERE<. I balanced the ships amongst each other but generally they are as balanced as the default ships in BSF. I did it this way so that fights are long and not as clear sided in the beginning which IMHO should give way to more tactical and strategic battles.
